The Wellston Fire Department is a combination Career/Paid on Call department located in Southern Ohio. We are approximately 80 mi due South of Columbus and 120 mi due East of Cincinnati. We run fire, HAZMAT, water rescue and BLS first response in our 59.5 sq mi coverage area. We also provide mutual aid to all of Vinton and Jackson Counties. We have an ISO Class 5 Rating and are continuously working to improve. We are a participating member in the Statewide Mutual Aid system. We average approximately 480 calls per year. We provide an average staffing of 3 firefighters to the Citizens we protect for the price of 1 full-time firefighter.
